As many of you know, at RSA Conference in San Francisco this past February, we joined the charity: water mission asking our attendees to participate in a Waterwalk. In exchange for their participation, RSA Conference vowed to make a donation that would help fund two water projects for schools in Nepal. In August we checked in with charity: water Growth Associate, Makena Cunningham, for a Q&A on the project and are now excited to share additional updates on our joint efforts!

As an organization charity:water primarily focused on bringing clean water to rural populations, making its program with implementing partner, Splash, extremely unique. This program is centered around bringing clean, safe drinking water to schools in Kathmandu, an extremely urban city with a population density five times that of New York City. charity:water’s partner will be conducting hygiene training in each school and will visit each water project site semi-annually for the next 10 years to ensure stability and longevity of its work.

The water projects RSA Conference funded in early 2014 are now in the construction phase! Over the last six months our friends at charity:water have been working diligently to find the perfect locations for the project, receive the proper permits and purchase the necessary supplies to build.  What many people may not know is that it takes 18 months of planning and community training to make a water project successful.  We expect a mid-project update in the coming months and will let you all know how we progress in Nepal.
