RSAC 2017 Security Scholars, The Sandbox & More: Day 3 recap

Posted on by RSAC Editorial Team

Have you caught your breath yet? If not, you’re in trouble, because we are not slowing down. Wednesday continued to be another full day of incredible content.

Preparing for the future

Dr. Hugh Thompson, Chief Technology Officer of Symantec, explored the evolution of other disciplines and discovered what our industry can and must become to embrace the opportunities of today and get ahead of the attacks of tomorrow.

Gideon Lewis-Kraus, author of "The Great A.I. Awakening” interviewed Eric Schmidt, the Executive Chairman of Alphabet Inc., the company that owns Google Inc. and other technology businesses.

SANS Panelists Ed Skoudis, Michael Assante, Johannes Ullrich and moderator Alan Paller presented “The Seven Most Dangerous New Attack Techniques, and What's Coming Next,” providing audiences an update on the most dangerous new attack techniques, how they work, how can they be stopped and how to prepare for what’s coming next in this exciting keynote presentation.

I believe Security Scholars are our future

Perhaps you’ve seen a face or two that seemed a bit younger than the typical security pro. Well, don’t worry – your peers did not find the fountain of youth and not tell you. No, those rookies walking the hall have been part of our Security Scholar program. To enrich the conversation and identify future thought leaders, RSAC launched the RSA Conference Security Scholar program at the 25th Anniversary Conference in 2016. As the program enters its second year, we expanded to include 20+ schools and 60 students!

Play nice in The Sandbox

Were you able to check out the Sandbox yet? RSA Conference’s “sandboxes” are full of hands-on, interactive experiences to test your infosec skills. Demo and discuss how pervasive computing and connectedness will inevitably lead to a broader threat landscape in healthcare and business; expand your thinking about threats to smart cities, electric grids and industrial processing plants; and challenge your infosec skills for network and digital forensics. Tomorrow will be your last chance!

Looking ahead to Thursday

  • Keynotes: Dame Stella Rimington and Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson will take the stage tomorrow!
  • RSAC College Day Commences: Come meet the leaders of tomorrow!
  • Get ready for the RSAC Bash: 4 parties, 1 night of adventure!
