Innovation Sandbox at RSA Conference APJ 2014

Posted on by Linda Gray Martin

Innovation Sandbox, a program launched at RSA® Conference 6 years ago, is an “incubator of innovation” that promotes new technology and new ways of thinking. This exciting program merges the world of technological innovation with established leaders in the industry and supports and targets cybersecurity startups and early-stage companies.

Building on the success of the program at the US Conference, we are pleased to bring the inaugural “Innovation Sandbox Most Innovative Company Contest” to RSA® Conference Asia Pacific & Japan. Innovation Sandbox will take place on Monday 21st July, and will feature presentations from a short-list of information security’s new rising stars in the region, as well as demonstrations of their disruptive technologies.

Since the program’s inception, there have been many success stories such as Purewire, a finalist in 2009 going on to be acquired by Barracuda Networks, and Invincea, who won the contest in 2011 and received a US$16 million investment from Dell last year. By bringing the program to APJ, we’re aiming to give local participants the opportunity to meet industry experts, senior level practitioners and thought leaders who can provide actionable feedback and guidance on their vision, product and company direction.

In addition to startups and entrepreneurs, we’re also extending the contest to students in tertiary institutions in view of the rising interest and emphasis of information security courses across APJ.

Our Call for Submissions is now open until 20th June. Submitters will be asked a number of questions including details of their product or service, the security problem it’s solving and their go-to-market strategy. Submitters will also be asked to put together a 1-minute video explaining why their product or service is innovative.

A short-list of submissions will be selected by a panel of industry experts. The top 5 companies will be invited to compete in the Most Innovative Company Contest on Monday 21st July in Singapore, with the ultimate winner being crowned Most Innovative Company at a VIP Cocktail Reception that evening. All finalists will have a demo station in the RSA Conference Asia Pacific & Japan 2014 Expo (Tuesday 22nd July – Wednesday 23rd July) and the winner will receive an expenses-paid trip to RSA Conference 2015 in San Francisco, California next April.

Innovation Sandbox can be a real change-agent as we’ve seen for companies like Purewire and Invincea as well as Appthority, Silver Tail Systems, Altor Networks and Navajo, to name just a few. If your company has a product or service that you think can have an impact on our industry, we want to hear from you! Learn more on the RSA Conference website.
